We lost a father with a heart of gold,

How much we miss him can never be told.

He shared our troubles and helped us along,

If we follow his footsteps, we will never go wrong.

What he suffered he told but few,

He did not deserve what he went through.

Tired and weary he made no fuss,

But tried so hard to stay with us.

We prayed for a miracle all in vain,

That God would make you well again.

But God knew best, we had to part,

It eased your pain but broke our hearts.

We cannot bring the old days back,

When we were all together.

The family chain is broken now,

But memories live forever.

He was a father so very rare,

Content in his home and always there.

On earth he toiled, in Heaven he rests,

God bless you Father, you were the best.

Declan will always be remembered by his wife Joan, daughter Claire, son John, daughter-in-law Angela, grandchildren Victoria, Shea, Oisín, Fiadh and Fionn, brothers Joe and Martin, sisters-in-law Geraldine, Yvonne and Carol, Carol’s husband Raymond McGuinness, nephews and nieces Caoimhe, James, Laura and Andrew, relatives and friends.
